Recent recitals include the Beaumaris Festival\, Cowbridge Music Festival and the Fishguard Music Festival. The group have notably performed for the Royal Society of Musicians\, the University of South Wales Graduation Ceremonies\, and the International Malcolm Arnold Festival. \n\nThe quintet are two-time winners of the June Emerson Wind Music Ensemble Launchpad Prize and have held a two year Artists Residency at the Norwegian Church Arts Centre. SUMMARY:DANIEL SHAO - Flute - Young Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nPhilharmonia Associate Daniel Shao appears courtesy of the Royal Over-Seas League\, after winning the 2024 ROSL wind final. He will be joined by former Festival Young Artist\, George Todica\, to perform works by performs Debussy\, Mozart and Franck. \nProgramme to include: \nDebussy Syrinx\nMozart Violin Sonata in B-flat major\nFranck Violin (Flute) and Piano Sonata \nDaniel is a British-Chinese flautist\, who studied at the Purcell School\, Oxford University\, and Royal Academy of Music\, graduating from both universities with first class honours and a DipRAM\, and training as a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra. He now enjoys a varied freelance career\, performing and recording with ensembles including the Philharmonia (having been Associate Member 2019-2021)\, London Symphony Orchestra\, London Philharmonic\, Chamber Orchestra of Europe\, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra\, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra\, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. His solo performances have been described as presenting ‘virtuosity\, charm\, and charisma in abundance’ (Ivan Hewitt\, The Telegraph)\, and he has won awards including the Royal Over-Seas League Woodwind Prize\, British Flute Society Young Artist and the Oxford Philharmonic Concerto Competition. As a founding member of Tangram\, he works with other Chinese-associated artists to explore issues of diasporic identity. \nRomanian concert pianist George Todica completed an Artist Diploma degree from the Royal College of Music in 2019 and a Masters of Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2017. Her playing reveals her delight in the rich depth and sweetness of the violin\, and her passion is to use this versatile instrument to offer audiences experiences of imagination and reflection. \nIn 2021\, Madeleine was named a Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artist for Making Music UK. She has given recitals at concert series across the UK and performed many of the major violin and viola concertos. She was recipient of the Len Lickorish Memorial Prize in the strings category of the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition 2022\, and has been a member of the Musicians’ Company Young Artist Programme since 2019 when she received the Biddy Baxter and John Hosier Music Trust Special Award. The forthcoming season sees James return to Wigmore Hall for a performance of solo and chamber works with the Manchester Collective\, directed by Duncan Ward. \nHighlights of 2023-24 included giving his solo recital debut at Sydney Opera House Utzon Room\, touring Australia with Jean-Guihen Queyras & Satsuki Odamura for Musica Viva\, solos recitals at Phoenix Central Park Season XI\, Harrogate Festival\, Tempo Rubato\, Klänge\, and with APEX4 for Sydney Festival. He gave his UKARIA solo recital debut at Adelaide Festival 2022 to critical acclaim\, and was a finalist of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship 2020. DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nLondon-based saxophonist and artist Rob Burton won the Woodwind Category Final of BBC Young Musician 2018 and went on to secure a place in the Grand Final at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall\, where he performed as concerto soloist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. \nHighlights since then include appearances as soloist with some of the UK’s leading orchestras\, such as Britten Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra as well as at prestigious international festivals\, including Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\, Leicester\, Cheltenham\, Harrogate\, and Oundle International Festivals. Featured as one of Classic FM’s “Rising Stars 2024: 30 under 30”\, he has performed in prestigious London venues\, namely Wigmore Hall\, St. John’s Smith Square\, St. James’ Piccadilly\, Buckingham Palace\, and Windsor Castle. \nRob previously studied Classical Saxophone on a full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music with Huw Wiggin\, his master’s degree at the Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK)\, and is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music on the prestigious Advanced Diploma degree\, as the first ever saxophonist on this course. \n  \nRob is accompanied by Royal Academy alumnus Mark Rogers \nMark Rogers is an American pianist specialising in vocal and chamber music. DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nStephanie Qiao\, born in China in 2008\, is currently studying under William Fong\, a renowned pianist\, educator and professor at the Royal Academy of Music. \nIn 2024\, Stephanie joined the Purcell School. She has won numerous awards in national and international competitions\, including the XII International competitions\, XII International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Violinists and Pianists Piano Category B Group First Prize\, and the Gold Award in the Professional Group A of the 5th Liszt International Piano Open Competition. Stephanie has performed multiple solo concerts in Beijing\, Qingdao\, Quanzhou and throughout China\, and collaborated with orchestras on concerto performances. In 2024 she was elected as The Rober Fleming Hannay Memorial Charity Scholar. \n  \nYazdi Madon started learning piano with Robert Crayford-Venn at six years old and in 2017 joined the Purcell School\, where he studies piano with Patsy Toh. Formed during their time at the Royal Northern College of Music\, they were chosen to participate in the 23/24 Hans Keller forum in Cambridge\, receiving guidance from Alasdair Beatson\, Richard Ireland\, and John Myerscough. \nHaving received multiple prizes at the RNCM\, they recently competed in the Christopher Rowland Chamber Group of the Year Award. The Quartet were selected to perform at the RNCM’s Original Voices Festival and worked with composer Eden Longson to premiere a new piece at the Enys Chamber Music Festival in August 2023. \nDuring the 2023 Manchester International Festival\, they performed in a pre-show set at Depot Mayfield\, supporting Anna Meredith and receiving coaching on her piece Tuggemo.
