DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nHailed as “Australia’s most exciting young cellist” (Limelight Magazine)\, Switzerland-based Australian musician James Morley works largely as a soloist and chamber musician\, and frequently extends into experimental improvisation\, electronics and post-instrumental performance. \nIn 2024 James was a winner at the live finals of the annual YCAT international auditions at the Wigmore Hall\, subsequently joining their roster. The forthcoming season sees James return to Wigmore Hall for a performance of solo and chamber works with the Manchester Collective\, directed by Duncan Ward. \nHighlights of 2023-24 included giving his solo recital debut at Sydney Opera House Utzon Room\, touring Australia with Jean-Guihen Queyras & Satsuki Odamura for Musica Viva\, solos recitals at Phoenix Central Park Season XI\, Harrogate Festival\, Tempo Rubato\, Klänge\, and with APEX4 for Sydney Festival. He gave his UKARIA solo recital debut at Adelaide Festival 2022 to critical acclaim\, and was a finalist of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship 2020. He is currently completing a Masters of Contemporary Music Performance at the Musik-Akademie Basel\, tutored by Marcus Weiss\, Yaron Deutsch\, Sarah Maria Sun & Mike Svoboda\, and will continue in Ergänzungsstudium in the classes of Thomas Demenga and Imke Frank. \n  \nJames plays the ‘Ex-Robert Barrett’ cello made in 2004 by Rainer Beilharz\, kindly on loan from Professor Mitra Guha\, in memory of her late husband. \n  \nProgramme to include:\nKODÁLY : Sonata for Solo Cello in B minor\, Op. 8\nJ.S. SUMMARY:ROB BURTON - Saxophone - Young Artist Series
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nLondon-based saxophonist and artist Rob Burton won the Woodwind Category Final of BBC Young Musician 2018 and went on to secure a place in the Grand Final at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall\, where he performed as concerto soloist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. \nHighlights since then include appearances as soloist with some of the UK’s leading orchestras\, such as Britten Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra as well as at prestigious international festivals\, including Mecklenburg-Vorpommern\, Leicester\, Cheltenham\, Harrogate\, and Oundle International Festivals. Featured as one of Classic FM’s “Rising Stars 2024: 30 under 30”\, he has performed in prestigious London venues\, namely Wigmore Hall\, St. John’s Smith Square\, St. James’ Piccadilly\, Buckingham Palace\, and Windsor Castle. \nRob previously studied Classical Saxophone on a full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music with Huw Wiggin\, his master’s degree at the Zürich University of the Arts (ZHdK)\, and is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music on the prestigious Advanced Diploma degree\, as the first ever saxophonist on this course. \n  \nRob is accompanied by Royal Academy alumnus Mark Rogers \nMark Rogers is an American pianist specialising in vocal and chamber music. He has been a Young Artist at the International Lied Festival Zeist\, Leeds Lieder Festival\, the Ludlow English Song Weekend\, and has played for masterclasses with Christian Gerhaher\, Martin Fröst\, Felicity Lott\, and Lawrence Power among others. \nTogether with regular recital partner baritone Florian Störtz\, they won the Prix de Mélodie at the Concours Nadia et Lilli Boulanger and the audience and First prize at the Helmut Deutsch Lieder Competition. Mark performs recitals regularly with musicians on the Countess of Munster and Philharmonia schemes and has played concerts at Scottish Parliament\, the Malmö Radhuset\, and a series of recitals at Atelier Ferrandou in the south of France with cellist Kristian Chojecki. Previously\, he was the accompanist for BBC Choir of the year Les Sirenes\, and is a staff pianist at Oxenfoord summer school. DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nBorn in California and raised in Lithuania\, pianist Ignas Maknickas is now based in London and was a winner at the 2023 Young Classical Artists Trust international auditions. \nOften decorated in competition\, Ignas was winner of the 2024 Award for Keyboard at the Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition. He also previously won First Prize at the XIX Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Youth in Szafarnia\, First Prize at the XX Piano Competition ‘Young Virtuoso’ in Zagreb\, Third Prize at the Aarhus Piano Competition\, and was a semi-finalist of the 2021 Vendome Prize. \nIgnas has appeared in concerto with many orchestras including the Aarhus Symphony\, Bloomington Symphony in Indiana\, Lithuanian National Symphony and London Mozart Players. DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nStephanie Qiao\, born in China in 2008\, is currently studying under William Fong\, a renowned pianist\, educator and professor at the Royal Academy of Music. \nIn 2024\, Stephanie joined the Purcell School. She has won numerous awards in national and international competitions\, including the XII International competitions\, XII International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Violinists and Pianists Piano Category B Group First Prize\, and the Gold Award in the Professional Group A of the 5th Liszt International Piano Open Competition. Stephanie has performed multiple solo concerts in Beijing\, Qingdao\, Quanzhou and throughout China\, and collaborated with orchestras on concerto performances. In 2024 she was elected as The Rober Fleming Hannay Memorial Charity Scholar. \n  \nYazdi Madon started learning piano with Robert Crayford-Venn at six years old and in 2017 joined the Purcell School\, where he studies piano with Patsy Toh. It became clearer over the years that he would pursue a career in music. \nYazdi has been invited to play at many events and venues\, including Lincoln’s Inn\, Wigmore Hall and the Carnegie Hall. He has also performed in Munich\, Brussels\, Vienna\, Bucharest\, Tivoli and Verona. He loves the travelling aspect of a pianists’ life. He has won many awards both national and international; most recently in 2024\, this includes first place at EPTA (UK) (under 18s)\, Munich International Piano Competition and Bromsgrove Young Musicians’ Platform (under 18s). \n  \nThe Purcell School is Britain’s oldest music school. DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n  \nEwan is a prominent young oboist building a career in the UK. In 2020 Ewan won the woodwind final of BBC Young Musician\, giving an “exemplary\, richly shaded account” (The Guardian)\, of Navarro’s “Legacy” concerto with the BBC Philharmonic. Since the competition he has been performing as a soloist in recitals around the UK\, including at the Windsor\, Cheltenham\, and Lake District Summer Music Festivals. He has recently been chosen as an artist with both the Tillett Debut Scheme and Countess of Munster Recital Scheme\, helping secure further recital opportunities around the UK over the coming years. As a freelancer\, he has performed as principal oboe with the RPO\, Aurora Orchestra\, Britten Sinfonia\, and London Concertante\, and has also performed with the BBC Philharmonic\, Philharmonia\, RLPO\, and Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra. \n  \nEwan’s long-time collaborative pianist is the exciting young soloist Tomos Boyles. Formed during their time at the Royal Northern College of Music\, they were chosen to participate in the 23/24 Hans Keller forum in Cambridge\, receiving guidance from Alasdair Beatson\, Richard Ireland\, and John Myerscough. \nHaving received multiple prizes at the RNCM\, they recently competed in the Christopher Rowland Chamber Group of the Year Award. The Quartet were selected to perform at the RNCM’s Original Voices Festival and worked with composer Eden Longson to premiere a new piece at the Enys Chamber Music Festival in August 2023. \nDuring the 2023 Manchester International Festival\, they performed in a pre-show set at Depot Mayfield\, supporting Anna Meredith and receiving coaching on her piece Tuggemo. In August 2023\, they participated in the Delft Chamber Music Atelier\, studying under Donald Grant\, Pavel Fischer\, and Raaf Hekkema.
