Award-winning singer-songwriter Boo Hewerdine and Yvonne Lyon’s new album is inspired by a noticeboard in Culzean Castle’s second-hand bookshop, full with items that have dropped out of books. Letters, photographs, old receipts, fragments of people’s lives have been lovingly collated and pinned up amongst the shelves.
Boo (who wrote Eddi Reader’s first solo hit, Patience of Angels) and Yvonne have formed an inimitable songwriting partnership; they weave these ephemeral stories with their own, creating songs full of nostalgia, beauty, hope and longing.
Boo & Yvonne would love our audience to be part of the story of this event. As part of Things Found In Books, they invite ticket holders to bring along their own “things found in books” – those forgotten treasures tucked between pages: photos, notes, letters, tickets, drawings… anything that tells a story. These objects may be shared during the show or simply placed on their touring “story table” to become part of the atmosphere. It’s a beautiful way to connect personal histories with this moving performance.
