Clare Hammond returns to Lichfield once again for a programme full of flare and fire. Recognised for her imaginative playing and communicative performance style, Clare is an established recording artist, prize-winner and worldwide recitalist. Her notable appearances include those at the BBC Proms and she has appeared as concerto soloist with BBC NOW, London Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras.

Clare recently founded the Gloucestershire Piano Trust to support her ongoing work in schools and prisons, which reaches around 4,000 schoolchildren and 300 prisoners each year. Her recital this evening features a short work that was co-created by prisoners at HMP Oakwood and composer Michael Betteridge. A short documentary about this project, Internal Victories, will be shown ahead of Clare’s performance, starting at 7pm.

Clare also plays Rachmaninoff Etudes-Tableaux, Op. 33, works by Chopin and Janacek, and finishes with virtuosic arrangements of pieces by Gershwin as well as Stravinsky’s The Firebird Suite.
