Lichfield Festival Space Parade
The Festival celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the moon landings with a space-themed parade, which navigated the streets of Lichfield and exhibited a wide array of stunning, giant puppet structures created by local schools and community groups, ably assisted by artistic partners, Festive Road. The Parade featured a specially-commissioned, bicycle-powered Orrery as well as gigantic planets, rockets and stars all made from recycled materials, including plastic bottles, newspapers and broken machinery. The project’s aim was to foster a greater understanding of space and science through arts engagement.
