Born in Ripon, Toby White recently completed his Artist Diploma (with distinction) and his Master’s Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 2016, he made his BBC Radio 3 debut as part of the pre-concert Proms.
Since then, Toby has enjoyed a busy and varied career as a soloist and chamber musician. Recent highlights include joining the European Union Chamber Orchestra for a series of Haydn concertos in autumn 2019.
Toby has been a grateful recipient of many awards including the Help Musicians UK Fleming Award and grants from the Pierre Fournier and Leverhulme Trusts. Toby was the holder of the Karl Motesiczky Scholarship from 2017-19 and was a Worshipful Company of Musicians award holder from 2017-18.
He appears with us today as part of the Tillett Trust Young Artists Platform, with whom he made his Wigmore Hall debut in 2019. He is joined at the 2021 Festival by pianist Marina Staneva.
