The final performance by Artists in Residence Chloë Hanslip and Danny Driver in our trilogy celebrating Beethoven’s writing for violin and piano. Today’s concert culminates in Beethoven’s masterwork, the ‘Kreutzer’ Sonata, Op. 47, together with a short work written in 1981, Music for 247 Strings, by the now Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir (our 2018 featured composer).

Chloë Hanslip made her BBC Proms debut at fourteen and her US concerto debut at fifteen and has performed at major venues in the UK (Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall), Europe (Vienna Musikverein, Hamburg Laeiszhalle, Paris Louvre, St Petersburg Hermitage) as well as Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Arts Space in Tokyo and the Seoul Arts Centre. She last appeared at the Festival in 2016 as soloist in The Lark Ascending with BBCNOW.
Gramophone Award nominated pianist Danny Driver is recognised internationally as an artist of sophistication, insight and musical depth, with an enviably broad repertoire encompassing works from Bach and Handel to Ligeti and Adès. He was a Festival Artist in Residence in 2018, appearing with BBCNOW as soloist in Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.2, as well as performances with the Carducci Quartet and our Celebration of Gershwin and Bernstein night.
