Awarded the MBE in 2006 for services to singing and winner three BRIT awards, Eddi Reader grew up in Scotland and shot to stardom as vocalist in the warmly-remembered Fairground Attraction. The band had huge international success and number one hits with Perfect and debut album First of a Million Kisses, which stormed the charts in the late 1980s.
Her subsequent albums signalled her increasing ability to assimilate different musical styles and make them all very much her own. She took her 2006 Songs of Robert Burns album all over the world from India to Australia, and made her movie debut in 2010 in Me And Orson Welles (with Zak Efron and Clare Danes), where she was featured singing Let’s Pretend That There’s A Moon with regular collaborators, the Jools Holland Orchestra.
From the traditional to the contemporary, Eddi brings joyous life to all forms of song. Her rare blend of meltingly true vocals and towering romanticism combine with an astute and pragmatic nature to make her a unique and powerful figure in contemporary British music. She has effortlessly developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers.
Her 2021 40 Years Live concerts promise to be something special, and as with any Eddi Reader concert, the magic is made in the moment, no two concerts ever the same.
