Our incredible Associate Artist, James Pearson (Artistic Director at Ronnie Scott’s) stars at the Festival once again with an affectionate tribute to comedian, writer, Hollywood star, and one of the most brilliant and underrated jazz pianists of all time, Dudley Moore.
James’s specially-curated Trio show will include some of Moore’s compositions, parodies – including his legendary take on Colonel Bogey in the style of Beethoven – and insights on his style, as, with typical Pearson panache, the charismatic ‘Dud’ is celebrated for the true artist and exceptional musician he was.
James Pearson is one of the countries most respected musicians. His work covers all genres of music, especially contempory music, jazz and classical, and he is equally at home as a concert pianist. He has played concertos with the Philharmonia and the BBC Concert Orchestra amongst many others, and his performance of Rachmaninoff’s 2nd piano Concerto was broadcast on Classic FM and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto and Rhapsody in Blue on BBC Radio 2. With collaborations ranging from Jeff Beck to The Sixteen, James has become one of the country’s most sought after pianists. He was one of the band leaders in 2 BBC proms with the ‘Battle Of The Bands” with Gregory Porter and Clare Teal
