From the ‘handbag’ of Edith Evans to Judi Dench’s Send in the Clowns, Dames of the Realm have lit up the world of entertainment with a myriad of iconic and unforgettable moments.
In a celebration of these wonderful first ladies of music and theatre, Associate Artist Jessica Walker pictured (who is nothing like a Dame) and Joseph Atkins (who has never played a Dame…yet!) recreate songs, speeches and anecdotes made famous by a stellar line-up of Dames across the years.
Expect Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Sondheim, Rodgers and Hart… and there might even be a bit of Bake Off – as our Associate Artist since 2021 makes the first of her two Festival 2024 appearances
