PURCELL SCHOOL – Young Artist Series

Stephanie Qiao, born in China in 2008, is currently studying under William Fong, a renowned pianist, educator and professor at the Royal Academy of Music.

In 2024, Stephanie joined the Purcell School. She has won numerous awards in national and international competitions, including the XII International competitions, XII International Balys Dvarionas Competition for Young Violinists and Pianists Piano Category B Group First Prize, and the Gold Award in the Professional Group A of the 5th Liszt International Piano Open Competition. Stephanie has performed multiple solo concerts in Beijing, Qingdao, Quanzhou and throughout China, and collaborated with orchestras on concerto performances. In 2024 she was elected as The Rober Fleming Hannay Memorial Charity Scholar.

Yazdi Madon started learning piano with Robert Crayford-Venn at six years old and in 2017 joined the Purcell School, where he studies piano with Patsy Toh. It became clearer over the years that he would pursue a career in music.

Yazdi has been invited to play at many events and venues, including Lincoln’s Inn, Wigmore Hall and the Carnegie Hall. He has also performed in Munich, Brussels, Vienna, Bucharest, Tivoli and Verona. He loves the travelling aspect of a pianists’ life. He has won many awards both national and international; most recently in 2024, this includes first place at EPTA (UK) (under 18s), Munich International Piano Competition and Bromsgrove Young Musicians’ Platform (under 18s).

The Purcell School is Britain’s oldest music school. Based on the outskirts of London, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, the School provides a rounded education with music at its heart to approximately 190 talented young players, singers and composers. Entry to the School is based upon musical ability and potential, not upon background or ability to pay. Students of The Purcell School regularly win scholarships to the best music colleges in the UK and abroad, and enjoy frequent success in competitions across the globe.
