10D The JONATHAN GEE QUARTET Reimagining The Beatles

July 10, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Price: £16
Venue: The Hub at St Mary’s

LAST FEW SEATS for 7pm performance; good availability for 9.15pm performance

Pianist and composer, Jonathan Gee, returns to the Festival following his appearance with Cleveland Watkiss in 2019 (Nat King Cole). He is joined by three great musicians from the Puglia region of southern Italy, featuring, on alto sax, the rising star of Italian jazz, Gaetano Partipilo, together with one of the most dynamic rhythm sections on the European scene.

The Quartet’s repertoire combines re-imaginings of Beatles tunes with self-penned compositions by Jonathan and Gaetano. Their first album, Reiminaging The Beatles, was released in 2020.

“Partipilo is a complete-game player whose tone and phraseology is an exciting amalgam of alto history” All About Jazz

“Jonathan Gee sent flurries of notes tumbling over in a prodigious display of technical brilliance” Jazz Times
