The Marian Consort is a vocal ensemble that presents bold and thrilling performances for audiences across the UK, Europe and North America. Here, the Marian Consort explore powerful, heartfelt music from the turbulent religious and social climate of Renaissance England in their programme Why do I use my paper, ink and pen?, which features music by William Byrd, Thomas Tallis and Robert Parsons – composers who expressed, in coded terms, solidarity with the oppressed, writing music of beauty, power, and surprising delicacy.
