Using the traditional folk music of the North East of England as a starting point, with influences as wide as Miles Davis, Steve Reich, Antony & The Johnsons, King Crimson and Tom Waits, The Unthanks are a unique band.
Alongside 15 studio albums, their many projects include compositions for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, song cycles of Emily Brontë’s poems, an eight track EP devoted to Molly Drake and the soundtrack for Mackenzie Crook’s BBC adaptation of the Worzel Gummidge books.
In the beautiful setting of Lichfield Cathedral, they will perform work from their back catalogue and the latest album, Sorrows Away.
