Finalists Announced for Midlands Choir of the Year 2026
After an incredible live Semi-Final on Sunday 10th May, when we were treated the most glorious day of stunning singing, we are thrilled to announce that the finalists for Midlands Choir of the Year 2026.
The six finalists are:
- Cantare (Derby)
- Friday Voices (Anslow, Burton-on-Trent)
- Inspire Choir (Lichfield)
- RWT Singers (Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Staff Choir, Wolverhampton)
- Six Town Sound (Stoke-on-Trent)
- Staffordshire Show Choir (Staffordshire)
From the initial entries, 11 choirs were invited to Lichfield for the semi-final , where the judging panel were treated to repertoire ranging from Joni Mitchell and Radiohead to Eric Whitacre and Randy Newman, plus arrangements of folk songs and contemporary classical choral repertoire and a good smattering of music theatre hits from Wicked and Hamilton amongst others.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS to all of our 2026 Finalists and our sincere thanks to all of our amazing semi-finalists. The judges were blown away by the commitment, energy and sheer joy that all 11 groups brought to the stage last weekend.
The FINAL will take place on Sunday July 12th 2026 in Lichfield Cathedral as part of this year’s Lichfield Festival, when our 6 finalists will perform their own specially-chosen repertoire. You’ll have he chance to cast your own vote as part of our Audience Prize, and hear a special performance from 2024 Champions MaleVox, before our panel of esteemed judges reveal the identity of the 2026 MCOTY winners!
