Lichfield Chamber Music Weekend has received national recognition in one of classical music’s most respected publications, The Strad, highlighting another exciting chapter in the Festival’s continuing growth.

In a recent article, The Strad announced that The Paddington Trio have been named Associate Artists of Lichfield Festival, recognising both the ensemble’s exceptional artistry and its ongoing relationship with the Festival. The feature places Lichfield alongside some of the UK’s most exciting centres for chamber music and reinforces the Festival’s reputation for presenting outstanding musicians in an intimate and inspiring setting.

The Paddington Trio

The Paddington Trio has quickly established itself as one of the most exciting young chamber ensembles in Europe. The trio, who have made three appearances at the festival in recent years, will perform a programme of Pärt, Shostakovich, and Tchaikovsky on Friday 2nd October, before they return for the summer festival in July 2027 to give the world premiere of Mark Boden’s Piano Trio ‘Lady of the Mercians’.

The trio’s appointment as Associate Artists reflects a shared commitment to artistic excellence, audience engagement and the future of chamber music.  For Festival audiences, this partnership means even greater opportunities to hear musicians of the highest calibre performing in the unique surroundings that have become synonymous with Lichfield Festival. Associate Artist relationships allow performers to develop an ongoing connection with audiences and the wider community, creating a richer and more meaningful festival experience.

The Strad feature comes as anticipation builds for the 2026 Lichfield Chamber Music Festival, taking place from 1-4 October.
