Tiny Stories Competition Winner Announced

[null]

We’re delighted to announce that the winner of our 2026 Tiny Stories competition is Sophie Webb, age 9!

Young writers from across the Lichfield area were tasked with writing a 300 word story on the theme ‘Growing Tomorrow’. The variety, creativity, and storytelling in each story was astounding, with tales of reborn dandelions, dinosaur eggs, and glistening dreams, there is something for everyone. You can pick up the free short list from the Hub at St Mary’s during the Literature Festival (19th – 22nd March 2026).

The winning entry has now been recorded by Stephen Fry, along with book tokens for the winner and runners up, and as we celebrate World Book Day, we’re delighted to share the final recording of Sophie’s story ‘2126’. Have a listen below.

A huge thank you and well done to everybody who entered the competition. We hope that you had a great time writing your stories. And a special thanks to the judges; Staffordshire Young Poet Laureate Pearl Knight-Dutton, and bestselling authors Phillipa Ashley, and Lindsey Davis.
