The Power Of Piano

I walked into Wade Street Church on Tuesday the 9th of July 2024 expecting someone to just play piano and I would say they were good but this flew through my expectations and I was blown away. At the start, Amiri played a beautiful piece and it was very calm, slow & gentle.

As soon as Amiri starting playing the whole room went silent. The music would start slow then build up until the strikes were so loud you couldn’t hear any noise. I was shocked by how well this young artist could play.

Here are some words I wrote down as I was listening to him:
Powerful, Exciting, Concentration, Soft, Hard , Loud, Bouncy & Mixed Emotions.
With the mixed emotions, I wrote this because whilst I was listening to Amiri Harewood I didn’t know weather to cry, be happy, or be confused. I felt like when Amiri was playing he looked like he had so much passion and it made me think that there is a deeper meaning to his music. Some notes would be short and sweet then others would be loud and aggressive. I found it very interesting to listen to him and I felt that Amiri put all his heart into playing and held a strong character. Amiri would move frequently and flow with the music as he was playing. As if no-one was watching him. He seemed very ” In his zone”.

One of the pieces Amiri played was very powerful and he looked very joyful when he was playing. When Amiri Harewood played, the first thing that came to my mind was succession. This young artist inspired me to keep going with my piano and to be able to play like him when I’m older. As I watched him play, I noticed how fast his fingers were moving and was mesmerized by the speed he was able to play at. He was very lively at piano and how he knows all those pieces of music off by heart is mind blowing.
I loved watching Amiri Harewood and I’m very sure I would got to watch this amazing young artist again.
