Book Review – Northern Lights by Philip Pullman

Northern Lights is volume one in the His Dark Materials trilogy. It’s all about Lyra Bellaqua , who with her animal daemon goes on an adventure like no other. The amazing journey that awaits her has immeasurable consequences far beyond her own world.

Personally, I loved reading this book. It was so gripping I couldn’t wait for the next chapter. Every time I turned the page I felt a ripple of excitement though my body about finding out what would happen next in Lyra’s journey. This book was like one that I have never encountered before. It was so unique! Philip Pullman’s writing and ideas made my imagination run wild. I just couldn’t stop reading it, every page seemed to have a twist to make you gasp! Northern Lights brings in a range of topics including religion ,drama ,adventure ,science and history.

One of the things that makes this book really special, is that it appeals to both children and adults ,which is a rare find. I have already recommended it to many people and even loaned it to three adults who all thoroughly enjoyed it. I would rate this book 9.5 out of 10 because it was just so good!
