SHIRLEY SMART’S BEZIQUE

Bezique perform a variety of acoustic world jazz and café music, centred on works by Django Reinhardt, Richard Galliano and Bireli Lagrene. Alongside original compositions, they add a rarely-heard North African flavour via the music of Algerian chaabi pianist Maurice el-Médiouni, to present a uniquely cosmopolitan sound on the gypsy jazz scene.

Led by virtuoso Shirley Smart (who last performed at the Festival in 2022), one of the UK’s most creative, innovative cellists, an evening of dynamic music and lively improvisations awaits.
