Our second Festival event focussed on the Boleyn family sees Festival favourite Alison Weir return with her new release, The Boleyn Secret, centred on the life of Kate Carey, daughter of Mary, and niece of Anne Boleyn.
Kate spends her young life as a companion to the Princess Elizabeth, Henry VIII and Anne’s daughter. The two become close, but marriage and jealousy intervene, and, as time passes, Kate senses that there is a secret associated with her own background. Only when her mother is on her deathbed does she find out the awful truth…
