Established in 1981, the Summer Festival offers a rich and diverse programme of world-class music and culture.  The cathedral is our flagship, but we run 60+ events throughout the city covering all genres of music, dance, comedy, theatre and visual arts.

Chamber Music

Back to our classical roots with a long weekend of sublime music in the magnificent setting of the Hub at St Mary’s. This series of intimate concerts showcases internationally celebrated musicians and talented young artists playing some of the world’s most beautiful music.

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS

Our first Christmas concert took place when Festival Patron Tony Hadley joined us in 2019, with other recent guests including the fabulous Grimethorpe Colliery Band and world-class choir Ex-Cathedra. Look out for future details.
